Chris Reilly, L.Ac., MSA, CCHM
In the year 2001, there was one clinical Residency in the country for acupuncture. The program accepted only one first year resident that year, and it was me. I had strived for excellence and service to my graduate university, graduated at the top of my class, and was rewarded with a unique opportunity for growth and advanced training.
During those years—and since moving to Albany, NY—I have had the opportunity to train and work with master practitioners and scholars of acupuncture and herbalism from China, Japan, France, Vietnam, Australia, the U.S., and more. Mornings of traditional qi gong practice were followed by days of studying and analyzing clinical research. Evenings and weekends were spent soaking in the wisdom of traditional acupuncture family lineage holders, qi gong practitioners, master herbalists, scholars of ancient Chinese texts, and the sort of master practitioners that inspire one to keep reaching.
At Silver Moon, I have two primary goals.
First and foremost, a dedication to provide the clients that I serve with the level of care and attention I would want for my own family--honest, effective, efficient and compassionate. Second, I am distinctly aware that I stand on the shoulders of over 2,000 years worth of gifted clinicians. It falls on me to carry forward that tradition with equal excellence, and to honor it by continuing its forward progress through history towards deeper understanding and new innovations.
Some of my experience includes:
New York State Licensed Acupuncturist
NCCAOM Nationally Certified Acupuncturist
Memorial Sloan Kettering certified in Acupuncture for the Oncology Patient
Trained in shonihari, Japanese for "children's acupuncture,” a gentle technique that avoids inserting needles with a variety of gentle acupressure techniques. These techniques are also useful for adults, alongside traditional acupuncture.
Completed one-year Acupuncture Residency at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle, Washington. The only acupuncture residency program in the country, accepting only one to three residents per year.
Trained in the Tung family tradition of acupuncture, renowned for its effectiveness in pain management, and for using points that are located away from the area of pain.
Certified in Chinese Herbal Medicine by Bastyr University. I use both traditional approaches, and evidence-based approaches relying on clinical research to create customized, safe and effective herbal remedies.
Extensive training and experience in Tui Na. Tui Na is an ancient Chinese approach to acupressure that helps amplify acupuncture's ability to manage pain.
